Our ability to love

I just came across this post entitled “40 of the Most Powerful Photographs Ever Taken” and they are powerful indeed. Some are the photos you’d expect, John Kennedy Jr. saluting his father’s casket or the man in front of the tanks in Tiananmen Square.

But most I had never seen. I was captivated by the thought that although most of the photos are in the context of evil or discord or pain, almost every one of them is ultimately about our incredible capacity…

to love each other,

to care about strangers,

to stand up for those who are vulnerable.

Yes, we as a race are capable of horrific deeds, but in greater measure, these photos prove we’re more able  and willing and compelled to love…to a degree that’s heart-stopping. I was happy (through copious tears) to be reminded.

The stories behind all of these photos are at the post. I highly recommend you Click Here.

Thank you Jen for your kind words & those beautiful pictures. I’m a big sap…I cry over seeing someone in such pain & when someone is reunited with a loved one, those darn dog pics with their owner always tug at my heart. The beauty of catching theses moments with pictures for so many generations to see is a gift.
