Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

I went to the movies this weekend, like many of you, as a statement.It was a defiant middle finger to those who would bring terror and death to the movie theater, a place where many of us go to find refuge in art, in storytelling and in beauty.

I didn’t expect to enjoy myself and I certainly didn’t expect to stumble into the best movie I’ve seen all year. I don’t want to spoil one single moment of it for you, so I will just say it’s the perfect ending to the trilogy. It’s thrilling and moving and wonderful. Go and see it, take your friends and your kids.

The Dark Knight Rises tells the story of love and forgiveness, bravery and loyalty triumphing over those who delight in chaos and pain and fear. And that is the story we all need to be telling. It is the story we do tell everyday by taking care of one another, sometimes in the smallest of ways. You will cheer and weep and love the ones you’re with. I wish I could be there with you.
